Someone once told me that if you pinch the leaf of a stinging nettle plant such that you crush it immediately as you pull it off the plant, then it is possible to eat it raw without being stung. Well, I am here to tell you that while the leaf did not sting my mouth, it did get my thumb so bad I shouted “OW!” and it’s still throbbing and tingling 8 hours later. OK, lesson learned: Nettles wants respect, nettles get it.
