Becky is an engaging and inspiring speaker available for hire. She is passionate about sharing her botanical knowledge with everyone, from nonprofit organizations to educational groups and private companies, and enjoys giving presentations on urban foraging as it relates to sustainability, preparedness and self-sufficiency. Urban Foraging 101 in Portland on Sunday, May 26
This popular class is fun, unique, and info-packed. We’ll cover the basics of plant identification and safety, go on a botanical tour of the urban jungle to discover the edible and medicinal uses of 30+ common weeds and trees on the street, smoke some legal and relaxing wild plants, and meditate with a mystery tincture to tap into our intuitive connection with plants — all in one amazing afternoon!

It is recommended that you bring a camera (or camera phone), pen or pencil, a bottle of water, and wear comfortable shoes. Class happens rain or shine, and we will at one point be sitting on the grass, so please dress for the weather.

2 p.m. to 5 p.m. meeting in the gravel lot outside of Townshend’s on Alberta Street, Portland

Plant Spirit Workshop: Stinging Nettle on Thursday, June 6
Plants have the ability to heal us on multiple levels and can share wisdom with us in the form of images, messages, feelings, and dreams. Learn many methods to connect with plant spirits and how to distinguish genuine messages from mental chatter, and enjoy connecting with stinging nettle. We will be drinking nettle tea, imbibing its tincture, and embarking on a guided meditation with a smoking ceremony in a sacred space.

Intro to Herbal Medicine Making on Sunday, June 23
Creating your own apothecary is empowering, fun, and can save you from expensive doctor bills. Learn the basics of home medicine making with this hands-on workshop that covers infusions, decoctions, salves, glycerites and tinctures. Meet awesome people and go home with the medicine you make in class to get your stockpile started! Cost includes all materials, containers, and herbs.

    Recently moved from living in the piedmont of NC to Seattle, WA. Pleased to find so many familiar edibles in the urban landscape, and excited to learn/experience others. Finally, a month later, settling into new digs on the western side of Friday Harbor, WA, where it seems the land may provide an opportunity to prepare a curious albeit old recipe for pickled skunk cabbage. Laws permitting, of course. Up for a visit?
