I am passionate about sharing botanical knowledge in an entertaining and engaging way for individuals, businesses, private groups, museums, and more. Whether you’d like me come to your house and teach your family about the wild plants in your yard, want an indoor lunch-hour presentation for your business, or you want to go for a private guided “hike” down a city street or private wilderness area, our time together will transform the way the way you look at the world around you, leaving you feeling empowered and excited about the incredible abundance that surrounds us all.
My expertise is in the identification and use of wild plants of the Pacific Northwest — including weeds, trees, and many escaped cultivars — for food, medicine, and survival. I also love to facilitate guided meditations and smoking ceremonies, teach DIY herbal medicine, and enjoy speaking about sustainability and the philosophical aspects of working with wild plants, which are an important part of my book, “Dandelion Hunter.”
And yes, I do offer gift certificates for private classes, which make a really unique and fun experience your recipient will always remember.
“I simply cannot thank you enough. We think you are awesome and appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge!!” – M.S. / Salem-based family, private tour
“We all had a great time. Thanks again, everyone truly enjoyed it!” – L.H. / Americorps group, plant ID class

I’ve also written about wild plants for Orion magazine, Reality Sandwich, Utne Reader, and much more. For more info about me, please visit the About page.
